Where the Narmada River naturally forms the sacred "Om" symbol. A divine convergence of nature and spirituality.
Omkareshwar is the fourth Jyotirlinga, situated on an island in the Narmada River that is said to be shaped like the symbol 'Om' (ॐ).
This sacred site is unique as it houses two ancient shrines—Omkareshwar on the island and Mamleshwar on the south bank—both worshipped as equal forms of Lord Shiva.

Sage Narada visited the Vindhya mountains. To appease Shiva and rival Mount Meru, Vindhya worshipped Shiva here, leading to the manifestation of the Jyotirlinga.
King Udayaditya of the Paramara dynasty is credited with building the main structure of the current temple.
Devi Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore patronized the temple, establishing daily rituals and renovating the Mamleshwar shrine.
The Omkareshwar Dam project transformed the region, but the temple remains the spiritual heart of the Narmada valley.
A distinct Nagara style spire featuring intricate carvings of deities, friezes, and projecting balconies.
The entire Mandhata island is shaped like the symbol 'Om'. The parikrama path covers this sacred geometry.
Located on the south bank, this ancient temple is structurally older and considered the inseparable part of the Jyotirlinga.
