Timeline of Resilience

Mahabharata Era

The Pandavas sought Shiva's forgiveness here. Shiva dove into the ground as a bull, leaving his hump.

8th Century CE

Adi Shankaracharya revived the temple and established the Rawal (Chief Priest) tradition.

2013 Disaster

A massive flood destroyed the town, but a giant boulder ('Bhim Shila') rolled down and protected the temple structure, a modern miracle.

Present Day

Under comprehensive redevelopment by the Government. New facilities, helipads, and meditation caves established.
